the wonder of flowers & seeds

“The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size.”

                       Gertrude S. Wister

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

Dawna Markova

This poem stood out for me as it was read to commemorate the well-lived life of a wonderful woman., remind ing me of the power of transformation and living fully.

I imagine I am not the only one who longs for a deeper and meaningful experience here.  I am one of many who want to live life with gusto, with passion, with colour.

The reflection of these qualities is alive in all flowers:  Vibrant, beauty-full and extra-ordinary, each an individual work of art.  Flowers have always inspired me; they remind me that I too can be like them,  wholeheartedly choosing to make life a work of art.
